Sorry for delay, family issues over past two weeks.
I also picked up surplus Avocent TS-100 w/o 5 VDC supply but have not had time on the bench with it.

Do you have a copy of the Install User Guide??

IF this is a previously used TS-100 ... It likely has an earlier configuration (may be accessible via Ethernet port)
You can either modify that one OR reset to factory defaults.
Remember you are dealing with a full returned PowerPC processor with 32 Mb of memory and running Linux.

You need 2 RS-232 cables (you may need to build, if not in your kit), DE-9 female to DE-9 female.
One is all 9 pins wired straight through, the other is Avocents version of a Cross-Over (or null) cable.
