I'm not familiar with this particular terminal server. The ones I
have worked with are accessed via the IP
address of the terminal server plus a dedicated port. So things like
SSH, telnet <IP address>:<port number>
can be used to access the serial device directly.
You should be able to set up port forwarding on your firewall.
I've used a Java terminal app to access these ports via a web
browser. I don't recall the
name of it but can dig it up if your interested.

Dylan,
You will have to configure your router to expose the terminal
server on a publicly visible
and hopefully fixed ip number.
Most routers have a concept of a DMZ host. That is to say
an inside host that is exposed
at the public interface of the router.
I am happy to be supportive of your efforts.

Hi Greg-
I picked up a TS100 after your comments (although not
one of the 2 referenced below :-). I've looked over the
manual a bit and think I have the general idea, but if
you have time, and wouldn't mind sharing with the group,
I would appreciate an hints/tips on connecting my N8VEM
to it for access. I see that there is a default
unsecured config file on the TS100 (in theory, I haven't
checked it yet), and I assume I am hooking the serial
out of the N8VEM into that connector and then into my
router which is configured for DHCP, but I'm not exactly
sure on next steps after that. Will the N8VEM itself be
assigned its own IP? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dylan

Somebody must have read this
thread, I just watched 2 Avocet Cyclades TS-100 units
that have been
listed for past few weeks -- quickly sold an hour
after last posting in thread. :-)
There is also a 4-port Lantronix unit (for less than
$3) that uses Intel's ipx420 processor and 32 MB
memory.
Would work for multiple computers or one computer BBS
with 4 serial ports.
