Re: Board arrived!

I still like Digi-Key for small orders I want fast.
USPS First Class mail costs about $2.50 and takes 2 days to Maryland.
Order on Monday afternoon and had it in Wednesday's mail.

Although do charge sales tax.  I'm not sure if that's a recent change or not.

Multiple sources (at least in US).

Specifically for US:
- If you want to be cheap, Unicorn Electronics (http://
www.unicornelectronics.com/) has wide selection, including logic (74LS/
ALS/HCT), Intel 8xxx series, including 8255 and its CMOS variant 82C55
(which I would recommend over original NMOS version). They also have
free shipping for orders over $25.

- For new parts Mouser was my favorite source for quite some time. It
is more expensive (sometimes as much as twice compared to Unicorn).
But all parts are new, manufacturer is specified (not just any generic
part). They also provide great packaging, and their web store is
extremely convenient (parametric search, datasheets). Recently they
have added $5.99 UPS+USPS shopping option, which is almost twice
cheaper than alternatives (Fedex or UPS).
Specifically for N8VEM/Zeta project Mouser has:
  - All the logic ICs
  - Z84C0010PEG (CMOS Z80 CPU)
  - UART (16C550)
  - PPI (Intersil CP82C55)
  - All the passives and interconnects
  - Many more...

- Jameco, but I somehow dissatisfied with their selection (they
removed many logic ICs, 74HCT/74AHCT is almost gone, they still have
some 74LS though)

- Chinese dealers... such as Utsource. They've been reliable as far as
shipping the right components, but in several cases components were
defective and in many cases they were "remanufactured" desoldered,
etc. But in all cases they've sent me replacements for broken
components.

- eBay... IMHO last resort, maybe for things like TMS9918 (BTW, get
TMS9918A, it is backward compatible, but supports additional modes).

Thanks,
Sergey
