I actually tested both Zeta and Disk I/O V3 with FDC9268 while ago and
it worked great with your firmware without any modifications. It is
completely pin compatible with FDC9266, but requires doubled clock (16
MHz instead of 8 MHz). I compared the datasheets of these two ICs.
They are almost the same, but apparently FDC9268 has better data
separator. It was more expensive (I think I paid $10 for one when
FDC9266 was $4), but now I see that UTsource lists both ICs for $5 on
eBay.
