Re: [N8VEM: 14154] Re: BAT43 vs. 1N5818

what board are they used on ???

thanks...

I used 1N5818 in my N8 (Jameco #177957). Its package a bit big, but it
is still possible to fit it on the board (that has 7.62 mm / 0.3"
distance between holes).

As I understand the diode is there to discharge the C3 capacitor as
quickly as possible when power is removed (reportedly applying voltage
to an IC pin without applying power to that IC can damage it).
Schottky diodes are fast and have low voltage drop, so they will
discharge capacitors quickly and to a lower voltage, but IMHO regular
silicon diode such as 1N4148 will work too. That's what I use for my
N8VEM SBCs and Zeta, that have the reset circuit similar to N8.

Thanks,
Sergey
