Subject: [N8VEM: 15670] T shaped chassis design

I spent the time waiting for parts to arrive building a sorta unusual chassis.

If that link doesn't work, here's my written description:

I took a piece of scrap 1x10 oak about 3 feet long and cut off about a foot.  So I have a 2 foot length as a base and a 1 foor length at the upright.  I offset mounted the upright such that the left side holds the ECB backplane vertically, upright, with plenty of space for boards to the left, and the right side has enough space for my 12v to 5v switcher and space for a 3.5 inch drive stack.  I drilled holes in likely locations for wires to pass thru, drove eyebolts in to zip tie cables, etc.

I'm planning to stick a battery holder for the battery backup on the chassis somewhere, along with conveniently remote mounted power and reset switches.  Also I have a bunch of other boards to build and install.  Once I get video output I'm at least semi-seriously considering one of those little 12 volt automotive LCD monitors as an onboard display and some kind of bracket to hold a small keyboard.  Then I'll have something like an inside out, wooden, homemade osbourne and a TRS-80 model 4P.

So far, so good, lots of fun.  xmodem'd up a copy of zork1 .com and .dat, worked flawlessly, rebuilt the RomWBW with zork1 in the eprom (which I've ZIFed on the SBCv2), still works, played with mbasic for quite awhile, reacquainted myself with wordstar, etc.
