Doesn't the original unit have oscilloscope functionality too? The chinese clone seems to be only the analyzer function and with a VERY bad build quality, just look at the comments page. It hurts the original product by using the same name for a disposable equipment.
I'm not promoting piracy by any means but I thought the 8 channel units were all based on a reference design? Similar to the various PICkits widely available and all built to standard designs supplied by Microchip. As my wife is happy to repeatedly point out I could be wrong there though. Linking to the software though is just plain wrong regardless, and given the USBee makers aren't going to stop the selling of clone hardware by the Chinese, I don't understand why they don't do themselves a favour, and only make the software available to those who have bought and registered a unit from or with them?
Personally I think the $495 price tag for a simple 8 channel analyser is wildly unrealistic at best, especially when you can get an Intronix 34 channel unit with far better sampling rates $110 cheaper! I have an Intronix and it's a fantastic unit. But I still wouldn't consider paying much more than $400 or so for it.
My thoughts anyway!

Although with the price being about $700 you can consider getting an
oscilloscope (maybe even with built in logic analyzer). E.g. Rigol
DS1052D, it is still Chinese made (bus so the low-end Tektronix
scopes), but at least they don't steal anything :-).
