Re: [N8VEM: 14066] Re: Where are the common set of KiCad Libraries

Dave,

The "general" or "Kicad Distro" libraries are 99% correct.  However, be very cautious of every component in these libraries.  I have found unusual errors in many odd places--most disturbingly in the standard 74LS logic series.

The most reliable libraries have "cache" in their names.  These are the libraries which support particular boards.  Get LSI and VLSI chip information from these libraries.  These libraries are generated for each project and cache all of the chip information for all of the chips used in a given project.

Known problems that I have encountered:
UART (8250/16c550) pin designations incorrect (DIP version); no PLCC component.
         80186/8 CPU pinout errors
74LSxx -- two common chips have errors; wish I could remember which ones.  You'll know, because some inputs are flagged as outputs and vice versa.  The Kicad DRC check will fail if you hit one of these.
