Using thicker wires to connect power to SBC might help too. It very
well could be that the power cable you're using (apparently from some
"wall wart" type of power supply) has too thin wires, resulting in
voltage drops/spikes.

It is normal to flash yellow (HALT) LED when using interrupt driven I/
O. In this case disk I/O routines halt the CPU while waiting for the
interrupt.
