Yup, totally agree. Trying to get real MSDOS running would be purely for the
challenge of getting it running rather than the "official" OS for the board.
FreeDOS is an excellent option and one that fits well with the general
openness of the N8VEM project. I had totally forgotten about it until you
mentioned it...just DL the latest sources.

If an M$-DOS compatible OS is an option, you could always try modifying
FreeDOS, available at:
http://www.freedos.org
This way there won't be any worries regarding licensing due to it being
available under the GPL. Regardless of whether MS-DOS is unsupported, the last
thing a hobbyist project needs is the possibility Microsoft on their back.
