I have an N8 4314 board that I've only ever used thru the serial port.

The Video does clear screen and present a flashing cursor.

It was booting fine with the V2.7.1 version of RomWBW.

When I upgrade to V3.2 it displays the initial POST, and after the listing of units thru Sound 0 it will hang, or display 16 characters of jibberish, or scroll a screen of interrupt errors.

It also only finds 512K of ram (there is 1mb).

I realize this is an older board, but any ideas?

Well, I burned a second EPROM and the problem went away. Looks like it was a speed problem with a 120ns part, but the 90ns worked fine!

Thanks again to Wayne for a tremendous effort!

Hi,

I am actually also building a N8 and having some troubles (se separate thread)

But, at least I have found out some problems coming from standard configuration of RomWBW for the N8
It is per standard only configuring 512k of RAM

So you need to build a new ROM file with a custom configuration.
At least add:
RAMSIZE .SET 1024 ; SIZE OF RAM IN KB (MUST MATCH YOUR HARDWARE!!!Wink

To have the output vie the TMS to the AV output, you need to add:
CRTACT .SET TRUE ; ACTIVATE CRT (VDU,CVDU,PROPIO,ETC) AT STARTUP

Since serial connection worked on your side, can you please share your config, esp.
OSC Frequency you used for P41?
What baud rate have you configured on the terminal SW to access the N8?

Regards
Michael
