After some e-mail interaction with John Coffman, at my suggestion, he designed a variant of the SBC-188, which has a PQFP-80 landing pads, allowing re-use of a bunch of 20MHz AMD 80C188's and 16C550's I have had for many years. John posted these new KiCad design files, as well as gerbers, publicly at the main SBC-188 page, at https://www.retrobrewcomputers.org/doku.php?id=boards:sbc:sb c-188:start , and I've manufactured some PCBs of this design, and successfully transplanted the 80C188's from their original home on a very large linecard, from a circa-1999 SDSL DSLAM, to the new PCBs. Now, I'm just waiting on the remainder of the parts necessary to continue assembly. They've been on order for a couple of weeks, but have yet to actually ship.
If anyone would like one of these (with a 20MHz AMD 80C188 CPU soldered down), just let me know. $25 each, plus actual shipping costs, within the US.
These boards are Rev 3.2, and the only difference is the switch from the PLCC 80188 socket, to a QFP-80 footprint. That's it.
