Hi folks,
I'm new here, and wanted to see if there might be any interest here in an 8-bit ISA SBC version of the SBC-188.
My first step in this process is to modify the existing SBC-188 V3.2 PCB to accommodate the 80-pin PQFP package 80C186, because I have about a hundred of the 20MHz AMD version of these, still on their original PCBs. They are effectively e-waste, and my hope is to re-purpose these unloved components into SBC-188's. Each 80C188 is also paired with an RTL8019AS and a 16C550, as well as a Dallas DS232 RS-232 line driver.
They lived their original lives as micro-controllers on a SDSL line-card of a DSLAM/DSL access multiplexer, which was manufactured around the year 2000.
Since I also have a large quantity of new-old-stock 28-pin PLCC GAL's, I'm also going to switch the footprint of the two GAL components, such that I can re-use what I already have.
My ultimate goal is to make an 8-bit SBC which has an integrated RTL8019AS Ethernet controller on the same planar.
Would this be of interest to anyone here?

plasmo wrote on Thu, 28 October 2021 19:32Is it possible to reverse engineer the existing pc board and expand the circuits to include mass storage, video/keyboard? Seems to me you have enough boards to invest in getting it reverse engineered and repurpose the pc board.
A picture of the board would be nice.

Sure, it's possible, but let's unpack this a bit. The SBC-188 already has IDE..what, other than a keyboard controller, would you want, specifically?
The changes to the SBC-188 PCB should be done by the end of the weekend, with any luck.
