Hi folks,

I'm interested in adapting a simply design to ecb that I could build using wire wrap. As I can't find any din connectors that have wire wrap pins I am thinking a ready made board for eurobus with solder pads for the din connector but the rest of the board suitable for wire wrapping. I have a roadrunner oktapad board here that has a ground plane on the component side. I can't use the wire wrap sockets I have as they have turned pins with shoulders that would short on the ground plane.

As a wider enquire, what do you folks use for prototyping? Is an ecb ribbon cable to separate breadboard setup possible/suitable? A 68000/68008 at 2-8Mhz with onboard memory and io so not running everything off board to start with. However I would like it to be possible to work with other ecb boards. Maybe I'm biting too much off here!

For some context I'm after a more permanent board than my usual it-worked-yesterday breadboard projects ( I'm not knowing breadboards!Wink but soldering is very tricky for me as I only have use of one hand. Wire wrap seemed suitable and it's retro to boot. Open to hearing any other advice or thoughts on soldering one handed.

Sorry for the multiple points.

Many thanks,

Steve

Hi,

Very kind of you! I'm based in London England. I'm going to guess you are in Canada? I've struggled to get wire wrap items over here, tho I think I was pushing it with the 64pin dip for a 68k as well, I wasn't even aware anyone made a wire wrap din connector.
