Hi all,

It can be hard to find nice ASCII parallel keyboards, so I've been working on developing an ASCII keyboard project. I've posted about this on OSIWeb and VCFed, so sorry if you've alread seen it. But I thought since this forum caters to small systems, there may be some interest.

The link is here: https://github.com/osiweb/unified_retro_keyboard

The overall idea is to provide replacements for multiple different retrocomputers. To start, I have a single keyboard matrix that can be configured as an exact Apple II or OSI replacement, and also in a more filled-out "Classic" configuration based on the ADM/3A.

I also have a SOL-20 configuration that uses the same ASCII interface board without modification (as long as the keymap is compiled in, and selected with the DIP switch).

You can use the ASCII interface to turn any raw keyboard matrix into an ASCII keyboard, by adding in an appropriate keymap.

The ATMega2560 version of the ASCII interface is also getting the ability to turn an OSI keyboard into an ASCII keyboard.

I haven't yet built up the ATMega2560 board yet. It's on the way from China. But I hope to have that tested within a week or so. Keycaps for the "classic" keyboard and Sol-20 keyboard should arrive within a month or so.

Pictures of an earlier version of the keyboard are on the OSIWeb forum:

I'd be interested in any feedback.
