I can only see 1Mbx8 in EPROM DIP form.

They are available in PLCC-32 and TSOP-32, too. The parallel version of it. The serial version is available in some form with 8 pins like SOIC-8.

When I'm unsure if a part is available in some particular speed grade or package I look for it in mouser or digikey.

Largest Flash in a 32-DIP is 512Kx8.
EPROM does not need /WR pin, so largest is 1Mx8 in 32-DIP.

The two are not directly pin compatible, but close enough that 2-3 jumpers allow for either in the same socket.

I'm working on a solution to my query regarding 1Mb Flash/EEPROM's last year, using through hole parts.

Managed to do some simple 3d parts in Kicad (Super Capacitor and PLCC32), which had be totally stumped last time I tried Smile

Hi Everyone,

Since the last post there has been some good progress made on Flash software support for SBC V2's with 39SF040 Flash chips.

I've submitted beta's of Flash File System and ROMWBW Xmodem flash updater to the ROMWBW developement build.

The Flash File System will allow your A: drive to be read/writable. Obviously there are limitations on life span of flash chips. But for occasional access/updates it is very handy.

The Xmodem Flash updater can optionally be integrated into ROMWBW as a User ROM and allows you to reflash your system from the boot rom using xmodem file transfer. Flashing is done during the transfer so there is no need for secondary storage.

Hi Gents,

Well I've been playing with this forever and think I've reached a state of finality.

Changes since last post:

Changed "recovery" jumper to a button.
Re-added standoff/mounting holes.
Added a solder jumper for single clock operation.
Added bypass capacitor to cpu clock.
