Good Afternoon,

I am looking for a supplier for the SD CARD socket on the multicomp Cyclone II v1.10

Everthing I look at online seems to have different solder tab positions and pin positions.

Is anyone able to recommend a supplier and part number?

Also wouldn't mind the same for the RCA socket which seems to be different from current designs floating around.

Thank you.

I feel your pain. I am now using micro SD cards, which don't have that problem.

I still have a few SD card sockets left over which will work. They have two tabs for pin 3 (gnd) but you can (carefully) bend these so both touch the correct island. Bend with a card in the socket, please, otherwise the connector inside will shift.

SD card sockets have no standard pinout, especially for the Card Detect and Write Protect pins.

I have posted extensive information about CD card sockets under the heading of the ECB Dual SD card board. The footprint on that board accommodates a wide range of sockets (which does you no good for another board) and requires the setting of jumpers to indicate which CD & WP pins are in use.

One of the documents lists a large number of sockets, some known to be compatible with the Dual SD board, some known to be incompatible. The help might be in having the model numbers of a large number of different sockets, one of which will match the footprint on the board you are working with.

Digikey had 2 sockets with different footprints. Hopefully one of them will match your board.

I'm pretty sure it uses the Sparkfun SD socket.

Have a look at https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12769

Cheers!

I'm pretty sure it uses the Sparkfun SD socket.

Have a look at https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12769

The footprint looks more like the discontinued Sparkfun socket https://www.sparkfun.com/products/retired/10117.

I can't find one of these bare sockets anywhere. But the footprint looks much like that for the SD socket used on these boards:
https://www.itead.cc/sd-micro-sd-card-breakout-module.html or
https://www.ebay.com/itm/122782601698

Maybe it does have the same pin spacing and layout and you could scavenge the SD socket off of one of these boards. Price per board is cheap at $2 or $2.25 US each (looks like they may be being closed out), but per-order shipping is kind of high.

Nope, not that one.

I checked my order history and the Sparkfun part number was PRT-12769.

If you look at the picture of the Cyclone IV-B at https://www.retrobrewcomputers.org/doku.php?id=boards:sbc:mu lticomp:cycloneiv-b:start

I used the same socket on that board.

Cheers!

HI Guys,

PRT-12769 does look like a likely candidate, thank you.

I have soldered a sd card adapter to the board at present and all is working which I find rather astonishing.

Thanks for your documentation for the CPM install.

Regards Phil
